Turning dowel pins....what inserts?

Well I have a surface grinder in my shop and I used work at a place that had dozens. I have a lot of hours on a grinder, but I'd never in a million years use it for this current job.

Many ways,
On a wet surface grinder with a CBN wheel and single pass grinding I'd quote about 10-12 hours plus setup for the 1500 pcs.
Problem is that this will leave a burr so added second op deburr cost on top.
Here is a strange thing. If it was carbide rather than steel I'd be up in the over 200 pcs per hour range on a 6x12 surface grinder.

In a lathe I'd be CBN and here you can program a radius on the outside edge. Load/unload time will be longer than the SG.

Being a dowel pin do you need the outside edge radius or chamfer?
